How do I obtain a place at Barrabill House?

To access residential aged care you must first undergo an assessment by an Aged Care Assessment Team

  • (ACAT): As part of their assessment, the ACAT will help you and your carer to work out what kind of care will best meet your needs.
  • Following the ACAT assessment, you need to complete the Residential Aged Care Application Form and submit it to Seymour Health
  • You will also need to apply to Centrelink for an asset assessment
  • To book an assessment by ACAT, please contact the Commonwealth Carelink Centre on

How long is the waiting list?

  • As soon as we receive your completed application form, you will be placed on a waiting list for a place in Barrabill House.
  • When a place becomes available, it will be allocated based on a number of relevant factors, including waiting time and health status.

How much will it cost?

The fees for residential aged care are set by the Commonwealth Government. Details of fees and charges can be obtained at the Australian Government Department of Health and Aging website on Publications page.
