Seymour Health has a 30-bed high care aged residential care facility and a 30-bed public facility providing public and private acute medical and surgical, renal dialysis and day procedures along with post-acute care, palliative care, district nursing and sub-acute ambulatory services.

About the Position

An exciting opportunity exists for experienced Registered or Enrolled Nurses to join our aged residential care team at Barrabill House.

WELFARE WORKER (R161119)
TEMPORARY PART TIME POSITION – 20 HOURS PER WEEK

An opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Welfare Worker to join the team at Seymour Health.

The Welfare Worker is responsible for the provision of generic and flexible welfare and counselling services to:

  • Acute Services (including Emergency Department) clients and families
  • Barrabill House Aged Care Facility and families
  • Health Independence Program clients and families
  • Adult Day Centre clients and families
  • Renal Dialysis clients Maintain and develop the professional status of the Welfare Worker Position within Seymour Health

Essential

  • Diploma or Degree in Welfare or similar
  • Clinical Experience - broad based hospital & community service.
  • Ability to work independently under own initiative.
  • The ability to work effectively within the inter disciplinary team.
  • Intermediate Computer literacy 
  • Well-developed interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Proven organisational skills with ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload
  • Ability to deliver assistance to programs with a caring and positive attitude
  • Knowledge of Accreditation Standards (NSQHS standards) applicable to the area of Health Services in which this position is located.
  • Sound judgement and decision making needs to be demonstrated through providing examples from their previous work.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working within a MDT team environment with an ability to provide discipline specific assistance to client program/services
  • Previous experience in community program delivery would be advantageous
  • Any other requirements that would be advantageous but not essential to be able to undertake the role.

Satisfactory police check and working with children check essential prior to commencement.
